VoxArk Privacy Policy
Effective: October 2, 2026
Local books and reading data
Books you import are copied into VoxArk's managed storage on your device. Reading positions, narration positions, bookmarks, highlights, notes, activity, settings, cover caches, OCR caches, and diagnostic logs are stored locally unless a feature described below sends or syncs them.
iCloud synchronization and your choice
iCloud sync is enabled by default on new installations. A one-time settings migration also enables it for older installations; you can turn it off again in Settings. When enabled and available, VoxArk uses the iCloud container associated with your Apple Account. Book files are visible under VoxArk/Books; reading and narration progress, bookmarks, highlights, notes, activity, deletion records, and reading settings use app-private metadata. Apple operates iCloud; the developer does not receive your iCloud credentials or host a separate copy of this library.
Imported background audio
On iPhone and iPad, audio you choose from Files is copied into managed local storage. With iCloud sync enabled, the imported audio files and their library metadata also sync through the same Apple Account. Audio files are visible under VoxArk/BackgroundAudio. Your selected custom sound remains a local preference. The app provides controls to export audio, remove a local download, or delete an item from the synced audio library.
Narration and remote speech
Apple local narration uses voices installed on your device. Audio synthesis is performed by Apple's system frameworks. If you explicitly choose the optional remote speech backend and enter an endpoint, VoxArk sends the text required for narration, the chosen language or voice, and any authentication value you configured to that endpoint. The endpoint's operator and privacy terms then apply. VoxArk does not enable or supply a remote provider by default.
Optional downloads and external links
VoxArk downloads fonts when you choose them. When you open an external link or use an optional online content source, the selected service can receive the request, network information such as your IP address, and any credentials you provide for that service. Saved source credentials are kept in the device Keychain. Those services apply their own privacy policies.
System permissions
- Files and folders: used for books and background audio you choose to import or export.
- Photos: used when you choose to save a generated excerpt image.
- Face ID, Touch ID, or device password: requested by the operating system for optional App Lock. VoxArk does not receive your biometric data or device password.
- iCloud Drive: used for VoxArk library synchronization when enabled and available.
- Local network: used when you actively connect to a content source on your network.
- Notifications: requested only when you enable daily reading reminders. Reminder content does not include book titles.
Diagnostics and analytics
VoxArk keeps bounded diagnostic logs on the device to help explain import, reading, narration, and sync failures. Logs are redacted and are not sent automatically. VoxArk does not include a third-party advertising or behavioral analytics SDK. If you export logs or contact support, you decide what to share.
Your controls
Local copies remain available for offline reading. You can turn off iCloud sync in Settings; this pauses synchronization without deleting existing local or iCloud content. VoxArk may first ask to download cloud-only items so that local book copies remain readable. Remote narration and other optional network features are controlled separately. You can delete books and associated reading records, remove downloaded fonts, and change App Lock after device authentication.
